murder of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Ann Hancock, of Re-~

Cribb stood the ordeal remarkably well for his physical
condition, He was in the advanced stages of tuberculosis,
He attempted to speak to a large crowd which had ga&éhered,
but fell exhausted, His body will be taken in charge by
relatives and removed to Jones County for interment, Be-
fore the murder, which occurred at the home of J. G. Be
Hancock, .near Rebecca, Gribb resided in Florida, Cribb
claimed that his mother-in-law had destroyed his domestic
happiness and while his wife was visiting her parents at |
Rebecca, he came to the house near Rebecca on the night of
November 7, 1913, and shot the elder woman dead and ser-
lously wounded his wife, Mrs. Sallie Cribb. Three weeks
