Cason, a“young white man lived in Kaufman Co., Tex., where his closes
friend and neighbor was another bachelor named L, F, Mchemore, Early
in 1907, McLemore sold his holdings; purchased a wagon, team and
camping equipment and he and Cason started to New Mexico where they
planried to settle. McLemore had over $1,500 in cash in addition to
his other possessions. They traveled into Parker County where, one
night in March, they made a camp by the side of the road outside of
Weatherforde Cason shot McLemore through the ‘head and breast, muti-
lated the face to prevent identification and cut the bogty into two
pieces which he took about 100 yards into the brush and buried ina
shallow grave. He then returned ‘to Fort “orth where he sold the
wagon and team at giveaway prices and then went on a spending spree
which took him into Arkansas before he returned to *exas, McLemore's
body was discovered about three weeks after his disappearance and
Cason, who was known to have been his traveling companion and who
had been seen in his company up until the time of his disappearance
