Daniels, a 34-year-old Cairo, Ga., Negro sought to induce
35-year-old Juanita King, the-mother of three small chil-
dren to marry him. She refused and the couple argued
over her refusal, Late on the night of July 31, 1913,
Daniels slashed Mrs. King to death in the front of neta
Cairo home. Neighbors who heard the woman's sfreams
witnessed the killing and positively identified Daniels
W.ho was subsequently captured and convicted of the crime,
