ALLEN, Frank August 22, 1907
"Boydton, Vaey Auge 22, 1907 (Special to the TIMES-DIS-
PATCH). = The negro Frank Allen was hanged here this
morning in the jail yard. The trap was sprung at 10shO
o clock, He was allowed to hang about fifteen minutes.
While on the scaffold Sheriff Beales asked him if he
wanted to make any statement. Allen replied that he did
not. The prisoner marched to the scaffold with a steady
step and was calm to the last. His body was shipped to
one of the medical colleges by today's train, The crime
for which Allen paid the extreme penalty of the law on th
gallows today was for an attempt to criminally assault Mr
Harvey Callis on the first day of July, near South Hill.
Last Saturday Allen made a full confession to the Revs Ee
