taken up for counterfeiting New Jersey bills. He admit-
ted that he had made 0 pounds of such money by“had
passed only a 15 shilling bill, For his crime he was

passed only a 15 shilling bill. For his crime he was
tried and convicted at a. court of oyer and terminer held
at Trenton and on Saturday, July 16, 178, was hanged in
that town, leaving behind a wife and nine children, At
the gallows his wife was fined 50 pounds. One of the
gang, who had been accepted as a witness against Jaeger,
as soon as the trial was over bought a horse with coun-
terfeit money but was soon overtaken and imprisoned,
Several other persons, it was reported, were jailed on
