Griffen, a 26-year-old Canadian ex-convict, with Maurice —
O'Dell. and Ralph Joseph Grubisch, also Canadians, robbed
the Buffalo, N. Y., jewelry store of Donald Hurd on Dec,
9, 1952. During the robbery, the li6-year~old Hurd was
shot and killed by O'Dell and Griffen pistol-whipped two
of the employees. Griffen and O'Dell were captured in
their native Hamilton, Canada, and returned for trial
where they were found guilty. Grubisch was not captured.
Griffen and O'Dell died in Sing Sing's electric chair on
Jane fy LOS.
