"The MEMPHIS APPTAL of the 17th inst., gives an
account of a recent insurrection on the slave
plantation of Col. Dandridge of DeSoto’ Co.,
Miss. The negroes numbered nearly 100, and
they were so violent that their owner and over-
seer were obliged to take refuge in the house
and bar the doors. The ~“eputy Sheriff of the
county raised a posse and arrested five of the
negroes who will, probably, be condemned to
death. The APPEAL is of opinion that Col. Dan-
