"On Friday, the 26th Lbs (says the ise reneia was execu-
ted at Sparta, in pursuance of his sentence for the crime
of burglary, a negro man named Dick, belonging to Mr. Tra-
wick. As thecrime of which he was convicted was not
attended with any aggravated circumstances, a number of
the humane citizens of Sparta petitioned the Governor for
a reprieve. A reprieve was obteined, but the bearer of it
was prevented by unavoidable circumstances from arriving
in sesson to stop the execution, though it was delayed to
the last moment allowed by the sentence." DAILY NATIONAL
