1926, It will be the first legal hanging in Thishomingo
Co, Milton is charged with attacking. a young white woman
near here in January, 1925.. A mob was organized byt Sher-
iff QO, J, Bullen had the jail heavily guarded, Milton was

his trial, When he was brought back and pleaded not guil-
gy resulted in a verdict of guilty and a sentence of death
appealed to state Supreme Court and affirmed, Since the
appeal the negro has been confined at New Albany, Miss,,
and as far as can be seen will not be brought here until
the date of execution, The Board of Superfisors arranged
for the erection of the gallows which has already been
