"Thewife of James H,. Johnson, died in Washington, Rappahannock Co,,
Va,, on Thursday, June 17, 1858, of poison administered by her hus-
bande A cwrrespondent of the ALWXANDRIA GAZEITE, says: She was per=
sauded by her husband to drink a glass of lemonade which he had pre-
pared for her, She tasted it and told him it was bitter, He then
told her that he had put sloes in it and itwas 'good for her health,!
She drank it, after whitch he mounted his horse and rode off, Ina
short time after his departure, her shrieks dttracted the attention of
persons in the neighborhood, who repaired to the spot, but it was too
late - the fatal draught had perfomed its work, The verdict of the
jury was that 'the deceased came to her death by poison, administered
by her husband, Johnson was arrested on Saturday and lodge in Rappa-
hannock Jail, Johnson was a respectable man, in easy cirffumstances,.
