Sloss, a former British soldier who had been wounded at
Bemus Heights and captured on Oct. 9, 1777; after wounds
healed he became a marauder in effort to disrupt the
colonials in any way possible. McCoy was a member of
his band and they were executed on August 18, 1770) for
