"Gov, Wells of Virginia has respited until the 29th of May
Robert Kemp, Abel Williams, Harrison Young and Samuel Trim
negroes, convicted of murder in the lst degree by the Cir-
cuit Court of Warwick, and sentenced to be hung on the 8th
of May. This was done, it was stated, to give the Gover-
nor time to examine the volumihous papers in their cases
now before him, An appeal was taken from the decision of

the court which sentenced them to the Supreme-Court of
Appeals, which, after a full hearing, affirmed the judg=-

ment of the NBEBH court below." TIMES, New York, NY,
