Hanged, Cahawba, Ala,, 5-2-1823.

"Yesterday (May 2, 1823), being the day appointed for the
execution of Davy, a negro man slave convicted of robbery
at the last term of the Circuit Court of this county, the
awful sentence of the law was enforced, At 2 o'clock he
was launched into eternity. We understand that an appli-
cation was made to the Governor for a pardon, which was
