in Rutherford County on 4-26-1871. They were
Klansmen and the victi ms were black, “ames:
Silsas Weston and his wife Polly, and their 3
children, David (8), Theodosia (6) and William
(11)(who was actually a stpson named W illiam
Herbert steadman, alias Lee, Klan burst into
their cabin and shot and hacked them all wup-
posedly to death and burned down the place,
