Leza, a 3leyear-old Mexican-American, lived at 721 Clark St.,. San
Antonio, Tex. In 191 he was sentenced to prison fmkkme for five
years following a conviction of burglary,., After his release, he re=
turned to San Antonio and resumed his activities as a burglar. Early
on the morning of Oct..28,.1915, he entered the home of Egon T, Foer-
ster, the secretary of three San Antonio bowling leagues, Mr, and
Mrs, Foerster were awakened when they heard a noise in their dining
room and Foerster intercepted Leza as he was attmmpting to escape
through the kitchen, In the struggle that ensued, Foerster knocked
Leza to the gaamm floor and Leza drew a knife and began slashing at
him before making his escape. One of the cuts severed an artery in
Foerster's right leg and he bled to death in a short time, Mrs,
Foerster was able to provide the police with a good description of
Leza and one of the detectives recalled having questioned him a month
earlier an connection with another burglary and identified a hat
dropped by Leza as one that the ex-convict had been wearing at the
time. Leza was arrested at his home shortly afterwards and Mrs. Leza
gave the officers permission to search the house, Bloodstained
