MACON, John Buddy

Macon, a black man, was wanted in Franklin Cool Ne Coy,for a marder
that had been committed in 1912, On May 35 1929, worl/was received
in Warren Co, that he was at the hame of a man named Baldy Mitchell
in that Gounty and Sam Pinnell with two other Deputies went to the
Mitchell home to arrest him, Mrs, Mitchell informed the officers
that Macon was in the barn while he was actually in the house, He
Stepped out on the porch and then went back into the house and shot
Pinnell through a crack in the doore Macon emerged from the house
and was captured after exchanging gun fire with the other two officers
Pinnell died from his wound that night and Macon was charged, tried
and convicted of his murder, He was electrocuted at the North Caro~
lina State Prison on April , 1930,
