"According to "The History of Sullivan County" by Quinlan,
the first hanging was Mark Brown on July 9, 1875. He was
found guilty of mrdering Sylvester Carr in the village of
Livingston Manor, Sullivan ,Co., N.Y. He was tried by

District Attorney John F, Anderson and hanged by Sheriff
Ben Winner,
