Electrocuted, Sing Sing Prison, 12-9-1920
"Howard Baker, 19, alias Miller, was found guilty of mur-~
- der in the first degree for the murder of William DeGreff
‘in Wolcott, Ne Ye Also indicted with him was Joseph
Higgins, age 16, The murder took place on Sept. 11, 1919,
in the village of Wolcott. Baker Higgins and another
youth named Hiram Tiffany (age 16) Were apparently caught
in the act of burglarizing a clothing store by DeGreff who
was a night watchman, Trial of Baker began in early Dec.,
and he was found guilty a week later, Justice William
Clark sentenced Baker to be executed at Sing Sing during
the week of Jan. 25, 1920, The gun used in the mrder is
on display at the wayne County Museum, Lyons,"
