Virginia.

Note:

There had evidently been a pamphlet published
about they lucas tamdly in (8387 followine) the
death sentence of yet a third generation mem-
ber of the family in that year. Parker Lucas,
(grandson of Jeremiah and nephew of David),
was condemned at Pearisburg in 1887 for the
murder of one John Bailey. (Parker Lucas does
not appear to have been executed). The pamph-
let was entitled A Family of Murderers and
was the source for the newspaper article cited
above. Earlier efforts to confirm the execut-
ion of David Lucas were inconclusive.
