Davies a 2h-year~old Youngstown, Ohio, black man, attempted to rob
a Youngstown garage on the nightof July h, 193. When the night
watchman, Thomas E, Mclean surprised him, he beat Mclean to dea th
w ith an iron pick. Davis managed to escape and made his way to
New Jersey where he was arrested in January, 1935. He confessed
the murder and was returned to Youngstown where he was tried and
sentenced to death, His first conviction was overturned on a
technicality and, following a second conviction, he was sentenced
to death again, He was electrocuted at the Snio State Prison on
Octe 17, 1935. eee
