"Bxtract.-of a letter @rom Albany dated June 6th: This
day one-Canfield will be executed at Saratoga according
to.the sentence of a General Court Martial. Said Canfield
is a native of Northampton in the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts, deserted from the First New Hampshire
Regiment and joined the most infamous Major Rogers®
banditti, came with a party to No. 4 to take of some
intelligence errand and was fortunately taken with four
others. He seems to be a hardened wretch and insensible

to his unhappy state." NEW YORK WEEKLY MERCURY, New York,
