affirmation of death sentence in the case of Nero Davis,
sent up from Chatham County. No details of the crime are
given. Chatham County Superior Court Minutes Book, Fall
Term, 1869, page 170 resentences Nero Davis to hang on
1-14-1870. The Chatham Record, 11-4-1886 mentions this
case in retrospect and says that the execution was in-
deed carried out and that Davis had killed a negro woman.
