TACKETT, Milton P.

Tackett, a white farmer, lived in Bath Co., Kye, on the waters of

Prickley Ash Creek. One of his neighbors, residing on the same
side of the creek y was another farmer named Frank Fielder, Takcett
and Mrs, Irielderhad been having an affair for some time and were
accustomed to meeting in a thicket located on a hillside south of
their homes, One day in 1857 while seeking a suitable piece of
wood with which to make an axe handle, Fielder wandered into the
thitket and caught his neighbor and his wife in consummation of
their affair, A fight ensued in which Tackett broke Figlder's arm
with a large EAMESX8 stone and then stabbed him to death, Tried,
convicted and sehtenced to hang, Tackett was executed exactly at
sunset on Nov. 205, 1857, on gallows erected at the intersection of
what is now U, 5, Highway 60 and the Wyoming Turnpike.
