bounty jumping and treason. He had originally been a
Pvt. in the 24th Infantry but deserted and went over
to the enemy. His next move was to join the British
Glengarian Regiment with whom he subsequently bore arms
against the United States. While with the British he
finked on a certain American P.O.W. named 'Donovan'
with the result that the man was identified as a Can-
adian who had served with the Americans and hanged.
During the seige of Fort Erie this Campbell deserted
from the British Glengarian Regiment and came back
over to the Americans where he went unrecognized and
