Smith, was convicted in Bibb County, Gae, of 8=31-197)
shotgun murders of her former husband Joseph Ronald Aikss
and his wife of 20 days, Juanita Knight Akins in a séclu-
ded area of a new housing development. Motive supposedly
to redeem proceeds of life insurance policies, the bene=
ficiaries of which were Mrs. Smith and her 3 daughters.
Smiths living in North Miami Beach, Flae, at time, John
Maree testified he was paid $1,000 for his participation
and he turned state's evidence.
