THORNTON, John Henry

2u-year-old black man, electrocuted Georgia State Prison
(Fulton) on July 11, 1952, Had shot and killed Evelena
Tleamer near her home on May 30, 1951. Also tried to
kill her husband at same time, Made no statement, going
to death silently, but shortly before being strapped in
chair, told Chaplain that he was guilty. Appealed an
affirmed (70 SOUTHEASTERN (2nd) 733). At time he ae
to kill husband, John L, Teamer, Teamer was at home in
bed.
