"Clayton, Ga., Feb. 14, 1896-W. S. Keener was
executed here today. He was defiant and made

a fifteen minute talk to his friends only. The
trap was sprung at 1:1 o'clock, The pSisoner
was pronounced dead by the attending physicians
2) minutes later. A post mortem examination
showed that his neck had been broken, The
crime for which Keener was hung was committed
on the 2nd of last June. He committed a dou-
ble murder in killing his two cousins, Leona
and Arizona Moore. He was in love with one of
them. They were returning home from a visit
