after midnight Friday for the murder of Mrs, Lydia I. Mc-
Bride, 56-year-old Fort Worth grandmother, June 1h, 1915.4
Singing a hymn, Gamble went to the chair at 12:06 AM, Nine
minutes later he was pronounced dead, Before he was
strapped down, Gable shook hands with Sheriff's Deputies
Shelton and Williams and City Policeman Tom A, Hollis,
Shelton and Hollis, then a BKHKXK deputy sheriff, were two
of the men who arrested Gamble at Maypearl 10 days after &
Mrs, McBride was beaten to death with an iron pipe on the
grounds of the D. McRae School. Gamble told the officers
that he had been & 'a sinner’ but that they were Hae hnow
