forenoon (3-25) at 11:20 o'clock, The doomed man made a speech on the
scaffold of a rambling nature, but made no statement respecting tHe
crime for which he suffered death, The crime for which Marion was
hanged wasthe murder of Jojm Cameron in April, 1872, nearly 15 years
ago, During the month of April of that year Marion and Cameron left
Grasshopper Falls, Kans., with a team of horses and wagon to work on
the St, Joe and Denver railroad grade. On the 3rd of May that year,
Marion arrived alone at Beatrice with the team and wagon, Nothing
more was ever heard of Cameron until the following March, when the re-
mains of a man with a bullet hole in his forehead, which were after-
wards identified as those of Cameron, were found on the bank of the
BKUKXRXXKK Blue River, Ten years more elapsed before the suspected
criminal was arrested, The case has been in the courts for the past
five years, and three times the prisoner has been sentenced to hang.
