From: 'TEORGIA JOURNAL AND MESSENGER, Macon, Gae,
Oct. 13, 1868: "Death on the gallows& Execution
of Amos Gorman, Levi Jenkins and Robert Whitus
for the murder of Jonabhan Sheffield - was mur-
dered on the night of the 25th of last August.
Sheffield was the proprietor of a small grocery

steps beyond the city limits of Macon..." From
