"One night in Sing Sing's death chamber, newspapermen
were partly blamed for sending a person to the chair,

The accuser was the condemned youth himself - Joseph Bi-
lognia, trigger man for the sextet who killed a Brooklyn
subway collector, ‘where's the newspaper reporters?! he
demanded esruffly as he stood beside the chair, There was
no answer. Looking directly at a group he believed rep-
resented the press, he continued: 'You fellows certainly
made a fine mess of things, Why don't you put down what
you did? You called me 'Tough Tonyt and all that. I'm
not tough, I've always been a good kid,'As he was being
strapped in, he told the officers to send his body to the
district attorney who prosecuted him, and to the woman
who identified him, I thoughtkkhe had finised speaking
and started to adjust the helmet, But again he yelled to
the reporters: 'Put this down, too, I'm innocent, Don't
