Dorsett and Walker, Guilford Co., N, ©., black men, waited by the
wide of a road to rob a railroad employee who they knew were going
to pass shortly with his pay on Jan. 20, 1915. When another man,
_John Swain, wode by on his horse, they debided to rob him instead, |
Swain offered some resistance and Walker shot and killed him. They
were caught because of BK& shoe prints and a notebook found at the
scene of the crime and both were convicted and sentenced to die even
though they maintained their innocence at the trial and the case
against them was wholly circumstantial. Their SXAGXRTSRKSKSR SISK
electrocution on Jan, 28, 1916, was the first double electrocution _
in the State, and the ordeal so unnerved the Warden of the North
