Executed -15-1853, Gettysburg, Bae, for murder of Samuel —
Mars "with a pistol heavily loaded with shot" on Aprilx 1,
1852 near Bendersville, in Manallen Township both Negroes
"with bad blood between them't; cause of crime somewhat ob-
scure but it was testified that Green “had a step-daughter
who was hired at victim's mother's; that he did not want
her to stay there where victim could have her for his wan
accomodation and that she appeared to want to stay there";
trial recorded in Gettysburg COMPILER, Nov. 22, 18523 in
STAR AND SENTINEL, attendénd a "flitting"; apparently at
the "Wood's Big House on the Hill"; see also COMPLIER
April 2h, 1888; the execution took place in the corridor
of the jail, conducted hy Sheriff John Scott; warrant
issued March lh,
