DURRINGER, Rudolph
Durringer, a 25-year-old Ossining, N. Y., white man, was a pal and
sidekick of Francis "Iwo Gun" Crowley, On the night of April 26,
1931, they were at a Bronx, N+ Y¥,, dance hall where Durringer was
infatuated with one of the dime-a-dance girls, Virginia Brannen,
Using an automobile that Durringer had previously stolen, they picked
up Miss Brannen and offered to take her home after she got off work,
Instead of driving her directly to her door, they rode around ike
while Durringer begged the young woman to marry him. After she had
repeatedly refused, he shot her in the stomach and they threw her
body from the car in Yonkers where it was discovered the next day.
Durringer and Crowley were taken into custody on May 7, 1931, following
a shoot-out with policemen and Durringer was convicted of murdering
Miss Brannen and sentenced to death. He was electrocuted at Sing Sing
Prison on Dec. 10, 1931. Crowley, conficted of the murder of two po-
licemen was electrocuted the following vear.
