death in the state prison electbic chair at Michigan @ity,
Ind,, on Sept, 30, 1938, for shooting and killing his wife
Hazel, 29, because she wanted to go to a circus, Both his
wife and their 22-monthe-old daughter, Rita Jo, were slain
in Noelke's mother's house in Evansville a year ago last
month, Authorities charged the: man became enraged at his
wife's teasing for circus tickets, ‘Noelke walked from the
death cell without assistance three minutes after midnight
and took his place in the chair without saying a word, At
12:06 the current was turned on and doctors pronounced him
dead |} minutes later. Two Catholic priests were with
Noelke at the last. He had spent much of the night readi
his Bible, He wrote letters to his mother and several
