“Spartanburg, Se Ce, 9=2-1893=George Turner, a prominent
and wealthy white man was hanged her on 9-1-1893. Tur-
ner's crime was the murder of his brother-in-law, E. He

he gave attention to money making and accumulated $15,000
by real estate transactions. He said nothing on the
scaffold and died without showing the least sign of fear.
Turner outraged Finger's sister and the outraged girl's
brother sued Turner for $25,000. Turner and Finger met
