ginia State Archives, Richmond, Va., entry dtd.
Sept. 6, 1838, states that they murdered two of
their master's children,

date of crime 8-10-1838; victims two daughters

of Mr. Mayes; their throats were cut; Carolina,

Chief witness for prosecution was ohly 14 and

the daughter of Lucinda; Carolina was acquitted

but was tobe transported, ;

Bath County, Va., trial on August 23, 1838, of
Andrew, alias Andy, Lucinda and Caroline, the
Slaves of George Mayse, for the murder of Mary
Mayse Deed, Andrew and Lucinda Convicted and
sentenced to be hanged on Sept. 24, 1838. No
further mention of Caroline. Andrew (Andy) val-
ued at $800.00 and Lucinda at $400, The Sherif!
attested that the executions took place on Sep.
