Jackson, a 27-year-old Worth Co., Gat, Negro farm hand
moved to the home of his half-sister, Sarah Armstrong,
when work on the farm where he had been living ran out,
Mrs. Armstrong owned her own land and was in good financial
condition, so Jackson, his wife, Willie Mae, his brother-in-|
aw, Horace Howard, Howard's wife, Nora Mae, and a brother,
Woodrow Jackson, conspired to kill and rob Mrs, Armstrong.
On July 29, 1932, Jackson shot Mrs. Armstrong with a shot-
gun and Howard finished her off with an axe. Jackson was
considered the ving-leader and he received the death enal =|
ty while Howard was sentenced to life imprisonment, The
