chamber chanting a prayer. Prior to their executions, all protested
their innocence, but Crow was the only. man to make a statement in the
execution chamber, His last words, were: "I am innocent, as innocent
as a new-born babe, God bless my baby."

yearseold, were engaged in the xillegal whiskey business with Crow

cated and Crow expressed the belief that the officers had been tipped
off by George Hoffman, a neighbor who was also engaged in the XXxx
illicit manufaturing of whiskey. Late on the afternoon of July lh,
XXRX 1928, Crow, accompanied by Cantilla, Par&i, Powell, Tony Polumbo
and two women drove to the Hoffman farm, The two women were ordered
to leave the automobiles and Crow waited by the cars while Cantilla,
Parsi and Powebl, carrying some five gallon cans, approached the
uildings on the Hoffman farm, They found three sons of George Hoff-
man, Louis, Hermann and Homer and, lining them up against a wall, at
gunpoint demanded to know where there whiskey was, hidden, expressing
.the determination of hijacking its, When the brothers stated that

they knew nothing of any whiskey, Polumbo struck Louis Hoffman over
the head with his pistol and all three men began firing, Louis
