"at Sampson (NC) Superior Court, last week, Curtis Orrell
whose trial had been removed to that county from New
Hanover, was convicted of the murder of his cousin, Pe-
nelope Orrell, and sentenced by Judge Ruffin to be hung
on Friday, the 7th of next month (12-7-1827), The case
is remarkable for the reason which is supposed to have
prompted the prisoner to the commission of the dreadful
crimeg vi,: that the deceased had refused to marry him -
