"Indiana, Pas, Aug. 27, 1907-The first hanging in this
county for more than 20 years took place here todayy the
law s victim, being Carmen Renzo, aged 5 years and weigh-=
ing°175 pounds. When the drop fell the rope broke, and
Renzo, half dead, was carried again th the scaffold, and
the trap sprung a second time, Phe second execution was
successful, Renzo killed his sweetheart two years ago,
It had been agreed that Renzo would marry the girl after
he paid her passage and that of her parents to this coun-=
try. He denied having agreed to this, and when the girl
