NIGHTON, Preston

"Preston Nighton (Colored), was hung yesterday (Nov, 8,
1893) at Milton, Fla., for the mrder of his mistress,
Alice Blake, He was cool and self=possessed, making a
speech in which he admitted that he killed the woman,
that he did not regret that act, and that he would have
shot her more times than he did had not his revolver
misséd fire. He said that he killed her because he loved
her, and would sooner see her dead than that she should
love another, At 1:05 o'clock the drop fell and eleven
minutes later thepulse of Nighton ceased to beat, and he
