neighborhood with Arnold. He was convicted and
sentenced to be hung sometime in November but an
appeal taken by his Co:nsel to the Supreme Court
on a point of law, being allowed, the sentence
will be suspended. Arnold shot Dyson without
any other provocation, as we have heard, than
having been reproved for bad conduct. We under-
stand that Judge Battle's remarks on passing
Sentence were such as to draw tears from all who
heard them. The prisoner was defended by Messrs
