Raleigh, N. Ce, August 4, 1916. = John Savage, a negro,
was electrocuted in the penitentiary here today for the
murder in Washington County several months ago of an
aged white man who died a month after he and his daughter
were beater when an unknown negro entered the house at
night for the purpose of robbery. Savage was convicted
at the June term of Washington county Superior Court,
The negro steadfastly denied that he was guilty, and went
to his death this morning still declaring that he had
