ANDRE, John

(Yilitary)

We learn from Headquarters that Major Andre,
Adjutant General of the British army, received
the reward of his dear earned labours - the gal-
lows - on Monday last (10-2-1780), His unhappy
fate was much regretted though his life was just-
ly forfeited by the law of nations, From his
behavior it cannot be said but that if he did no
die a good Christian he died like a brave soldie
Thus dled in the bloom of life Major Andre, the
pride of the British army and confidant of Sir
Henry Clinton." NEW YORK PACKET AND AMERICAN
ADVERTISER, Fishkill, NY, 10/5/1780.
