Brunswick County, Virginia, Caty, a female slave,
the property of Sallag Vaughen, on Nov. 28, 1817
assaulted and murdered Sarah Harwell with an axe
in the Parish of St. Andrew. Valued at $450,00
and sentenced to be hanged on January 30, 1818.
