WHITE, Henry :

White, a 25-year-old Ohio Negro had been paroled from
Mansfield Reformatory. On Oct. 30, 1906, he and his
mistress, Sadie Freeman, were seated in a traction com-=
pany office #K in Franklin, Ohio, when Marshal George
B&SKSE Basore passed by. Basore suspected White of
having some stolen goods in his possession and called
him to the door, As White reached the street, he pulled
a pistol and shot and killed Basore who returned the
fire but missed White. White escaped from the County
Jail at Lebanon in December but was recaptured in the
Southern part of Warren County. Convicted, he was

electrocuted on July 19, 1907. White was converted to
the Catholic faith before his execution. The execution
