White, 18, electrocuted Ohio State Prison (Lawrence) on

Mrs. Dennis Massie, her son Robert, and daughter, Mary,
were killed last night in their country home, twenty-five
miles from Ironton. Their bodxes were found today. The
mother was seventy-five years old, and the son and daugh-
ter pese past forty-five. A search is being made for Hur-
ley Beard, aged twenty-dne, a man employed on the place."

Beard, an 18-year-old white youth was employed as-a farm
hand outside Ironton, Ohio, by 78-year-old Mrs, Nancy As _
Massie who lived with her ]\9-year-old son’ Robert and her
Li7-year=old daughter, Mary. In May, 1913, Beard got into
an argument with Robert Massey after having been ordered _
by Mary Massey from her room. He bludgeoned all three of
the Masseys into unconsciousness with a stick of wood and
then cut their throats with a razor. §M& Beard fled to _
Chicago where he was taken into custody at the home of
