Bell, a white tramp who pretended to be a cripple appeared at the
home of a farmer in Scott Township, Wayne %o., Pennsylvania, and
asked to be allowed to steep in the barn, The farmer permitted
him to stay in the house and, after having breakfast the next morn=

the wife of Rev. Gershom Williams, a lady in her sixties, left home
on foot to walk to Church to teach her Sunday School caass, Rev.
