Hobbs, a 32-year-old white man, with Charles Vincent Rose
~and-John: Agnew: attempted-to-burglarize-a-restaurant in
Hamilton, Ohio, on the night of April 12, 1937, Off-duty.
policeman Arthur Sponsel, on his way home spotted them and
ordered them to surrender. When they ran, Sponsel fired
Several shots and Hobbs returned his gunfire, killing the
officer. Rose and Agnew received life sentences, while
